My Rating: ✯✯✯✰✰

My Review: Hidden continues the good fight between Light and Darkness. We watch as many are making choices that affect who they are and who they are becoming. Some are choosing the path of Nyx while others are turning to Darkness.

Zoey Redbird feels more lost than ever after watching her mother be murdered by Neferet to create Aurox who, after looking at him through her seer stone, seems to have Heath taking up residence inside him. Zoey doesn’t know how much more she can handle before it becomes too much. She will need the help of Stark, her warrior, and her friends more now than ever before to help her through this difficult time in her life.

After losing everything, Neferet is more determined than ever before to hurt Zoey Redbird. She knows she cannot risk the wrath of Nyx by killing Zoey but that doesn’t mean she can’t hurt her in other ways that are much worse than death. Neferet has set her tendrils of Darkness loose on someone front and center in Zoey’s heart. If she succeeds in her latest plan she just may ruin Zoey beyond repair.

Will Zoey be able to get it together and help save someone she loves? Or will she be left trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart once again?

P.C. And Kristin Cast give plenty of drama and action to leave you satisfied but wanting more, Hidden makes a great addition to the House of Night Novels. The series continues to thrive, becoming even better as the characters become more developed.

Some Things Worth Mentioning

Lenobia finally gets what she has always wanted.

Erin’s true colors continue to bleed through her facade since the break up between her and Shaunee.

Newcomer Shaylin is strong and capable, a great asset to the group. Erik and Shaylin have lots of potential to be a power couple.

    Kalona receives an unexpected visitor.

The showdown between Sylvia Redbird and Neferet was unforgettable. I can’t say too much about this scene except that it was just great!

Stevie Rae is actually bearable in this book.

We learn the story of the events that made Lenobia who she is. It begins with the death of Lenobia’s illegitimate half sister, Cecil. Her tragic death gives Lenobia a chance at a real life for herself.

Lenobia is a beautiful young girl who leaves the comfort and love of her mother to embark on a journey that will change her forever. She finds love, happiness, purpose, and the strength she didn’t know she had.

There is one man who would see to it that she never have the life she wants. The Bishop is an evil man with a fiery temper who will stop at nothing until Lenobia is his. He would ensure that she be his and only his until he is ready to discard her like trash.

Lenobia’s Vow was beautiful and sad, having me in tears on more than a few occasions. I fell in love with the characters, cheering them on while feeling their joy and hope. Then crying along with them, feeling their pain and sadness. P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast never disappoint.

Book Review: Dragon’s Oath by P.C. And Kristen Cast

This Novella of the House of Night novels tells us the story of the beginning of Professor Dragon and Professor Anastasia. We are first taken to present day Oklahoma where they are performing Jack’s funeral Pyre. Dragon unintentionally releases a spell that Anastasia made before her death to remind Dragon of his oath to her. As he remains vigil before the funeral pyre he remembers how the oath came to be.

We meet a young Bryan Lankford as a wild and arrogant human. As a fledgling he was still wild and arrogant but also much more. Before he became a full vampire he earned the title of Master Swordsman, he was an excellent student, and admired by many for his strength, good looks, and bravery among other things.

Anastasia, 22, was the new professor of Spells and Rituals at the Tower Grove House of Night in St. Louis, Missouri. Because of her being close in age with the fledglings, many students went to her and asked her to make a love spell for Dragon Lankford to fall in love with them. Instead she makes a spell that will make everyone see him for who he really is.

The spell works so well that she sees the warrior he can be if he has her by his side to help him be a better man. She also sees the warrior he can be if he does not temper his strength with mercy. She felt that as a fledgling, he was arrogant and had much to learn about honor and integrity. But there was an obvious attraction that neither could ignore.

Meanwhile, St. Louis has a new sheriff in town who hates vampyres. Anastasia believes that she can prevent him from causing harm to them using a peaceful spell. What she nor Dragon know is how dark and tainted this humans soul has become.

P.C. and Kristen Cast wrote a beautiful romance marked by tragedy. This novella was a wonderful read that had me utterly unable to put it down until the very end. This is a must read for fans of the House of Night Novels.
